Anna Bloom is interested in technology’s potential to shape our relationship to people, stories, and places.

Her most recent work includes launching citizen reporting projects with the news and politics team at YouTube, and participating as a fellow for Code for America, a new fellowship program dedicated to working with municipal governments to rapidly build web and mobile technologies to make cities more open, efficient, and participatory. During the fellowship, Anna worked on a team that launched Change by Us Philly, an online marketplace for community projects where neighbors can volunteer their time and resources to make their city better (and produced a video to spread the word). She also worked on making public and street art more discoverable in Seattle, Boston, San Francisco, and Philadelphia via Foursquare, Twitter, and mobile sites.

Anna received her master’s degree from UC Berkeley’s Graduate School of Journalism. Her reporting has appeared in The Park Record Newspaper, The Huffington Post, The New York Times, and on MSNBC.com.

For fun, Anna helps to host Bay Area’s Open Show, a monthly show-and-tell for videographers and photographers. She would love to see you in the crowd.
